Twelve New Constables Join Bermuda Reserve Police

The Bermuda Police Service is pleased to announce that twelve new Constables joined the Bermuda Reserve Police at a 7pm Passing Out Ceremony held Thursday, April 16th in the Police Recreation Club hall, Prospect Devonshire.

The new Reserve officers completed a 13 week training course, held two evenings a week for three hours each, consisting of various core competencies.

Condition Update: Two Vehicle Collision in Pembroke Saturday

At last check this morning (Thursday, April 16th) the 23 year old male livery cycle rider injured in a collision with a motorcyclist that occurred around 5:13pm Saturday, April 11th along St. John’s Road Pembroke, in the vicinity of Cox’s Hill and Mount View Road, is now recovering in stable condition on a general ward.

The motorcyclist involved, a 43 year old Devonshire man, had already been moved to a general ward on Tuesday.

Police Motorcyclists Recovering After Frog Lane Collision

As a further update, it has since been confirmed that both male officers injured in this morning’s collision on Frog Lane suffered no serious injuries.

One officer sustained a broken wrist while the other sustained a broken leg. Each officer also sustained cuts, bruises and abrasions.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this collision continues.

Traffic Diversion on South Road in Southampton [Updated]

Motorists are advised that traffic diversions are currently in effect and delays should be expected on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Church Road after a tractor trailer apparently pulled down power lines in the area.

Therefore it is recommended that the motoring public avoid the South Road, Church Road Southampton vicinity until further notice.

Police Motorcyclists Collide During Training Exercise on Frog Lane [Update]

Chief Inspector Hashim Estwick – Around 10:30am Wednesday, April 15th first responders were dispatched to a collision along Frog Lane in Devonshire involving two of our police colleagues, both riding motorcycles.

Both male officers involved have been taken to the hospital for assessment of their injuries.

Monday Night Collision Victims Treated & Discharged From Hospital

The 20 year old St. George’s man injured when the auxiliary cycle he was riding collided with a police vehicle at the junction of Front Street and Court Street in Pembroke around 9:14pm Monday, April 13th was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and later discharged.

Similarly, the 56 year old Southampton man injured when the motorcycle he was riding apparently collided with a traffic cone on South Road in Devonshire in the vicinity of the Botanical Gardens around 10:12pm Monday, April 13th was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and later discharged.

BPS Recognises Passing of Former Constable Rodney Trott

Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva - On behalf of the officers and staff of the Bermuda Police Service I would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of former Police Constable 458 Rodney Trott who passed away on Sunday morning. Rodney and I served together as junior officers in the mid-1980s, and I will always remember his friendly, gentle nature and infectious smile. Rodney served with the BPS between 1984 and 2002 and he was highly regarded for his expertise in the Scenes of Crime Office (now called the Forensic Support Unit). I would like to especially express our sympathies to Rodney’s daughter, Teshae Trott, who is a serving police officer.

Motorcyclist Injured in Devonshire Collision [Updated]

Meanwhile at 10:12pm, first responders attended a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcycle that took place on South Road, 200 meters east of the Botanical Gardens south gate in Devonshire.

Police Vehicle & Auxiliary Cycle Collide [Updated]

At approximately 9:14pm, first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place at the junction of Front Street and Court Street.  Details are sketchy, however it appears that an auxiliary cycle was traveling east on Front Street and the police car was traveling west on the same road and turning right onto Court Street, when the two vehicles collided. The 20 year old St. George's man on the auxiliary cycle was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he’s being treated for chest injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Collision Victims Remain in ICU, Now in Stable Condition

At last check around 6:30am Monday, April 13th the 23 year old male livery cycle rider and 43 year old male motorcyclist from Devonshire injured in a collision that occurred around 5:13pm Saturday, April 11th along St. John’s Road Pembroke, in the vicinity of Cox’s Hill and Mount View Road, were both in stable condition at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

Inquiries are ongoing and police continue to appeal for any witnesses to this collision to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.
