Once again the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) would like to remind members of the public – especially senior citizens – to remain vigilant regarding phone calls, e-mails and other correspondence from unknown persons that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data.
The BPS Organised and Economic Crime Department (OECD) has yet again received reports from local residents of telephone calls from unknown persons claiming to represent global technology companies such as Microsoft and Apple, as well as local communications companies Logic and North Rock.
The motoring public is advised that the Bermuda Police Service Driver Training Unit will be conducting a Standard Police Motorcycle Course from Monday, 12th March until Thursday, 29th March 2018.
The officers on the course will be riding in a group of three and at times, at high speed. Lights and sirens may also be used during the training.
The investigation continues regarding the death of 69 year old Howard Charles – the first road fatality of 2018 – following a serious incident involving the carriage he was driving, pulled by two horses, around 3:20pm Thursday, March 8th on Brighton Hill Road in Devonshire between Middle Road and Watlington Road East.
A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist the deceased’s family at this difficult time and any witnesses that have not already come forward are asked to please contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 as soon as possible.
The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 67 year old Randolph Hollis.
Mr. Hollis is described as brown complexioned, with ‘salt & pepper’ coloured hair.
He was last seen in the Church Lane, Pembroke area around 11am Thursday, March 8th.
It is unclear what clothing he was wearing at that time.
Mr. Hollis is known to frequent the Harlem Heights Road, Hamilton parish area and usually travels on foot or by bus.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 69 year old Mr. Howard Charles and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. Charles was seriously injured in an incident that occurred around 3:20pm today (March 8th) on Brighton Hill Road in Devonshire involving the carriage he was driving, pulled by two horses.
He was rushed to hospital via ambulance but sadly, later pronounced dead.

It appears that no other vehicles were involved.
The male carriage driver was injured and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
Around 5:45pm Wednesday, March 7th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported collision at the junction of Middle Road and Khyber Pass in Warwick.
It now appears that a 19 year old Warwick man riding a motorcycle in the eastbound lane slid out into the path of a car being driven in the opposite direction.

Initial information suggests that a car and a motorcycle were involved, with the male rider sustaining injuries that may be serious.
He has already been transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and an update on his condition will be provided in due course.
Around 1:20pm Tuesday, March 6th police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel and ambulance personnel responded to a reported medical emergency in the Court Street, Victoria Street Pembroke area.
It appears that a 94 year old Hamilton parish woman collapsed and was treated at the scene before being rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
At last check this morning (March 5th) both the 54 year old male motorcyclist and 40 year old female car driver hurt in a collision with another car driven by a 65 year old man around 9:45pm Friday, March 2nd on Middle Road in Paget near the junction with Cedars Drive had been treated and discharged from the hospital.
The 65 year old man, believed to be a Smith’s parish resident, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following the three vehicle collision but later passed the alco-analyser test and has been released on police bail.
