Renewed Scam Advisory: Deceptive ‘Computer Assistance’ Calls

Once again the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) would like to remind members of the public to remain vigilant regarding phone calls, e-mails and other correspondence from unknown persons that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data.

The BPS Organised and Economic Crime Department (OECD) has yet again received reports from local residents of telephone calls from unknown persons claiming to represent ‘Microsoft Windows.’

Ongoing Witness Appeal: City of Hamilton Bus Terminal Altercation

Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses to an altercation involving two men that occurred at the City of Hamilton bus terminal around 11:30am Monday, January 29th.

Both men were injured and at last check this morning (January 30th) one of the combatants, an 18 year old man, was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital while the other, a 20 year old man, had been treated at the hospital, discharged and arrested in connection with the incident.

Driver Arrested, Two Injured After Front Street Collision

Around 1:10am today (Monday, January 29th) police and first responders were dispatched to a reported collision on Front Street in the City of Hamilton, near the junction with Parliament Street.

It appears that a car collided with a 41 year old Southampton man sat on a parked motorcycle and a 27 year old Sandys parish woman standing nearby.

Altercation at the Bus Terminal [Updated]

Police responded to a report of an altercation that took place at the Bus Terminal in the City of Hamilton at approximately 11:30am today (Monday).

It appears that two men were in an altercation and one of the men brandished a rock and the other male brandished a bladed article.

Both men as a result of the incident were taken to the hospital, with one man being treated for head injuries and the other being treated for neck and head injuries, that at this juncture appear to be life threatening.

Robbery at Belvin's Variety in Smith's Parish [Updated]

Police responded to a report of a robbery that took place today (Sunday) at Belvin's Middle Road in Smith's parish at around 5pm.

It appears that a male walked into the store and stole money out of the cash register. He then left on a waiting motorcycle ridden by a male accomplice. It is believed that the suspects left on a motorcycle traveling in a westerly direction on Middle Road. No one was injured and it appears that no weapon was brandished.

Fake Social Media Accounts Impersonate Local Government Officials

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of deceptive social media accounts using the names of real Government officials.

It appears that individuals on social media, particularly Facebook and Instagram, are ‘cloning’ the social media (Facebook and Instagram) accounts of Bermuda public officials – namely the Premier and Government Ministers.

These fake social media profiles are being used to contact members of the public and make demands of money for alleged Government initiatives and proposals.

Three Arrested in Connection With Reported Warwick Disturbance

Around 9:10pm Thursday, January 25th police officers responded to a reported disturbance in the Scott’s Lane South, Warwick area off Khyber Heights Road.

It appears that the disturbance took place outside an area residence.

Apparently the individuals involved immediately fled on foot towards Astwood Park.

Witness Appeal: Teenager Stabbed in Warwick [Updated]

Police are appealing for witnesses after the reported stabbing of an 18 year old man, which apparently occurred in the Ord Road, Cherry Lane Warwick area around 12:10am today (January 25th).

The injured teenager is currently being treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for wounds that are believed to be serious and an update on his condition will be provided in due course.

Investigation Into Alleged Sexual Assault at Royal Bermuda Regiment

On Sunday 21st January police received a report from the Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR) that a sexual assault had occurred on the grounds of the RBR the night before.

A female soldier was reported to have been assaulted by a male soldier. A man has been arrested in connection with the complaint and he was later released on police bail while the investigation continues.

Altercation on South Road

The Bermuda Police Service is reporting an incident that took place today (Friday) on South Road in the Paget/Warwick area at around 7:15am.

Details are unclear but it appears that an altercation between two males took place resulting in both men being taken to the hospital. A 36 year old male received lacerations to his face, arm and neck while a 37 year old male received an injury to the back of his head.
