Inspector Robert Cardwell, Officer Responsible for the Roads Policing Unit – We are now well into the Christmas Season. During this season there is much celebration and festive cheer. However, sadly it is also in this season that statistically we will see life lost on the roads.
In January this year the Bermuda Police Service rolled out its Road Safety Strategy.
This strategy has been embraced by every operational unit of the police service, and we have seen some remarkable results.
Around 8:15pm on Saturday, December 12th, first responders attended a reported assault in the vicinity of Court Street and Elliot Street in Pembroke.
It appears that a 45 year old Pembroke man was punched by an unknown male of stocky build wearing a baseball cap, causing the Pembroke man to fall to the ground.
The Central Community Action Team will be holding a community clinic from 1:30pm until 4pm Saturday 12th December at the Rural Hill Plaza in Paget.
Area residents as well as members of the general public are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to speak to Community Action Team officers regarding any concerns or issues they may have in their neighborhoods.
Commissioner of Police Michael A. DeSilva CPM - It is my privilege to present the Bermuda Police Service Strategic Plan for the period 2016 to 2018. The plan comprises five areas of strategic focus for the next three calendar years, commencing in January 2016. Specific objectives for each of those years will be provided in the form of separate Annual Policing Plans that will coincide with the Government’s financial years from 1st April until the following 31st March. This ensures there is approved funding available for each specific project that might require it.
Around 7:45am on Monday, December 7th first responders attended a reported two vehicle collision at the junction of South Road and Lovers Lane in Paget.
It appears that two cars being driven in opposite directions along South Road collided at the junction, as one of the vehicles attempted to turn on to Lovers Lane.
It has been confirmed that the visiting 52 year old UK male pedestrian injured in a collision with a car on South Road, Paget near the junction with Inglewood Lane around 5pm Wednesday was treated and later discharged from the hospital.
Inquiries continue and any witnesses that have not already come forward should contact the Hamilton Police Station on 247-1704.
Around 5pm on Wednesday, December 2nd first responders were dispatched to a reported collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Rural Hill in Paget.
Details are limited at this time. However the injured pedestrian has been taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of a suspected head injury.

Residents are reminded that user account information necessary to access their home computer(s) is valuable and that this information should never be relayed over the internet or phone to unknown persons.
At last check Sunday morning (November 29th), the 33 year old St. George’s man injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with the kerb along Crow Lane in Pembroke, near the junction with Corkscrew Hill around 2:30am Friday, November 20th was in stable condition on a general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
The investigation regarding this collision continues and any witnesses should contact the Hamilton Police Station on 247-1704.
