Renewed Witness Appeal as Investigations Continue Into Recent Robberies

Investigators continue to follow all lines of enquiry regarding two recent reported armed robberies – one in the parking lot of the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association on Middle Road in Devonshire around 8:30pm Sunday, June 9th and the other at Grannie’s Kitchen on North Shore Road in Pembroke around 11am Tuesday, June 11th.

While it cannot be confirmed that the two incidents are linked at this time, the possibility has not been ruled out.

Reported Missing 44 Year Old Keena Donawa Found After Focused Search

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is happy to report that a 44 year old Devonshire woman has been located unharmed after she was reported missing this morning (Thursday, June 13th).

Keena Donawa was last seen Wednesday evening (June 12th) and reported missing by a family member the next morning (Thursday, June 13th), after her car was found parked and unoccupied at Spittal Pond nature reserve in Smith’s parish Thursday morning.

Community Meet & Greet Clinic in Devonshire on Friday

The Parish Constable for Devonshire, Constable Kyle Outerbridge, will be conducting a community outreach clinic to meet and greet area residents from 11:15am until 2:15pm Friday, June 14th at Empire Grocery on North Shore Road in Devonshire.

Reported Armed Robbery at Grannie’s Kitchen

Around 11am today (June 11th) police officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Grannie’s Kitchen on North Shore Road in Pembroke.

Early information indicates that two men wearing dark coloured helmets entered the premises.

One of the suspects pointed an unknown object covered in a red cloth at a female employee and demanded money.

Statement Regarding Letter to Bermuda Health Care Services’ Patients

Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley – Following the publication of a letter by Dr. Reddy to Bermuda Health Care Services’ patients in the news media I can confirm that in late February 2019 an undertaking was offered, and accepted, that no steps would be taken in relation to the Protocol (Part 1) pending an application by the Intervener for a Stay of the implementation of the Protocol.

A hearing was conducted on 26 February 2019 where Justice Subair Williams considered the Intervener’s application for a stay and leave to appeal.

Motorcycle Stolen from 20 Year Old Man in Reported Armed Robbery

Around 8:30pm Sunday, June 9th police officers responded to a reported armed robbery.

It appears that a 20 year old man was sitting on a motorcycle in the parking lot of Bermuda Squash Racquets Association on Middle Road in Devonshire when he was approached by two unknown males on another motorcycle – with the rider demanding ‘everything’, while the pillion passenger held what appeared to be a firearm.

Female Visitor Hurt in Southampton Rental Cycle Crash [Updated]

Around 3pm Sunday, June 9th a reported serious single vehicle rental scooter crash occurred on South Road in Southampton near the Fairmont Southampton resort.

Details are limited at this time. However, the visiting female rider involved sustained suspected head injuries and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

Eleven Promoted to Sergeant

At a 5:30pm ceremony held at Police Headquarters in Prospect Devonshire on Friday, June 7th eleven officers were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Dignitaries in attendance at the promotion ceremony were His Excellency the Governor, Mr. John Rankin CMG, Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Caines JP MP, Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley, Deputy Commissioner Designate Darrin Simons, Assistant Commissioner Antoine Daniels and Assistant Commissioner Martin Weekes.

Reported Serious Two Vehicle Collision in Smith’s Parish Early Sunday [Updated]

Around 3:30am Sunday, June 9th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported serious two vehicle collision in the Harrington Sound Road, Town Hill Road Smith’s parish area.

Details are still emerging. However, it appears that a taxi and a motorcyclist with a pillion passenger were travelling in opposite directions along Harrington Sound Road when the collision occurred.
