Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints in 7 Parishes

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Thursday, December 5th) will be conducted starting this Friday, December 13th.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Smith’s parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Friday, December 13th, Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th.

35 Year Old Male Motorcyclist in ICU After Reported Single Vehicle Crash

Around 11:50pm Saturday, December 7th a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash occurred on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Khyber Pass.

It appears that a 35 year old Pembroke man riding a motorcycle west on Middle Road attempted to negotiate a bend in the road and struck a tree.

Renewed Warning About Circulating Defamatory Social Media Messages

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a social media message circulating that incorrectly links a specific Customs officer to the recent arrest of a 41 year old man in relation to an ongoing investigation by law enforcement authorities in Canada.

For the record, the ongoing investigation does not involve the individual whose profile photo is being circulated.

BPS Aware of Social Media Post About Unknown Man Following Young Girl

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a social media post circulating online from a concerned mother about an unknown man saying hello to and following her daughter.

Apparently the incident occurred around 4pm Wednesday, December 4th as the young girl walked to the Youth Library in the City of Hamilton.

Person of Interest: Chet Wilmot [Updated]

The Bermuda Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Chet Wilmot.

Mr. Wilmot is wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Mr. Wilmot is between five foot six inches and five foot eight inches tall, light brown complexion and of medium build, weighing about one hundred and sixty pounds.

He has salt and pepper hair worn in a low cut.

Mr. Wilmot is known to frequent the Farm Lane and St. Mary’s Road areas of Warwick.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Chet Wilmot is asked to contact the police Criminal Investigations Unit on 247-1744, the main police line on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers number on 800-8477.

Update: Tuesday, December 10th - The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 57 year old Chet Wilmot.

Mr. Wilmot, a person of interest in an ongoing investigation, has made contact with police.

63 Year Old Roydell Stovell Located Safe & Well This Morning

‎She was found in Victoria Park in the City of Hamilton at 8am today (December 4th) and returned to the medical facility for treatment.

Secret Shopper Scam & Money Laundering

The Bermuda Police Service wishes to advise that members of the public who participate in the so called Mystery Shopper Scam may be engaging in money laundering activity. An act that is illegal and could result in jail time and or hefty fines.

Money laundering is defined under sections 43-45 of the Proceeds of Crime Act as the offence of knowingly concealing, or assisting the acquisition of criminal property.

Public Appeal for Assistance in Locating 63 Year Old Roydell Stovell [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public's ‎assistance in locating 63 year old Roydell Stovell, who is overdue to return to a medical facility.

Ms. Stovell was last seen around 2am Monday, December 2nd at a family member’s residence on First Avenue in Pembroke and is described as light complexioned of slim build, 5 feet 4 inches tall weighing approximately 110 pounds with a short haircut.

She is known to frequent the City of Hamilton but so far efforts by police officers to locate her have been unsuccessful.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of 63 year old Roydell Stovell should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.

Reminder: Kite Flyers Should Be Mindful of Public Safety & Excess Noise

In light of the incident last Thursday evening (November 28th) where a 16 year old male scooter rider sustained lacerations to his neck from a kite string, those that fly kites in public places are reminded that their pastime should be conducted safely and without excess noise, in accordance with the law.

Members of the public that fly kites are also requested to be mindful of the time of day that they take part in such activity.

Two Police Officers Arrested & Suspended From Duty

Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley – As you are aware, two police officers have been arrested and suspended pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.

Details of that investigation cannot be revealed at this time, as the matter may go before the courts.

That notwithstanding, I note that any person subject of a criminal allegation is entitled to defend themselves accordingly and they are innocent until proven otherwise.
