Update – Sudden Death on Malabar Road

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 22 year old Raymond Glenn Curtis of Sandy’s parish. At 3.48 am on Saturday Police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive male on Malabar Road, Sandy’s parish. On arrival Police found an injured and semi-conscious male lying in the street. First aid was rendered with the assistance of EMTs from the Bermuda Fire Service and KEMH. Mr. Curtis was conveyed to the King Edward Memorial Hospital where at 4.30am he was pronounced dead by an on duty doctor.

At 3:48 this morning Police responded to a report of an unresponsive male lying in the road (Malabar Road in Sandy's parish). EMTs transported the 22 year old Sandy's parish man to KEMH where he was pronounced dead at 4:30am. No further information will be given until next of kin has been notified and foul play has not been ruled out.

Remembering Our Colleagues Lost During Hurricane Fabian

September 5th 2008 marks the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Fabian and the loss of three of our colleagues – Constable Stephen Symons, Constable Nicole O’Connor and Station Duty Officer Gladys Saunders. The Bermuda Police Service is joining with the September 5th Foundation to recognize this anniversary and to remember our fallen colleagues.

There will be a remembrance motorcycle ride and a reception at the Prospect PRC to mark the fifth anniversary on Sunday 7th September.

Alleged Firearm Incident

Around 11 this morning, Police attended a report of gun shots in the Glebe Road/St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke area. Details about the incident are unclear at this time; however, Police are appealing for any passengers of the #5 Pond Hill bus that got on or off in the Glebe Road area that may have seen two males on a motorcycle acting suspiciously to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4315 or 295-0011; they can also call the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 1-800-623-8477.
