The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 46 year old Kenneth Noel DeSilva of St. George’s on the evening of Friday, March 13th 2009. An investigation into the circumstances of Mr. DeSilva’s death is ongoing and Police have been in regular contact with his family during this process. A forensic pathologist will travel to Bermuda to conduct an autopsy in the near future. Any person who has any information regarding the death of Mr. DeSilva is encouraged to contact Police on 299-4315.
Around 8:50am on Thursday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on South Road in Warwick near the junction with Marley Beach Close. It appears that a car was traveling west on South Road when the driver, a 23 year old Southampton woman, lost control and collided with an embankment, causing the vehicle to flip over several times. The Southampton woman was not injured; however the car was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
The Bermuda Police Service, Financial Crime Unit along with the Community Policing Division (Uniform) is investigating a large quantity of US counterfeit $50 notes that are currently circulating around the island. So far early indications are that these notes are being passed at various businesses, mainly night clubs.
We are asking merchants to please be on the lookout for the following US $50 note serial number GF50643268A and to contact Police immediately. We also ask that they take note of the individual or individuals passing the notes.
An investigation is ongoing into an attempted sexual assault which occurred on Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke around 4am on Saturday, February 28th 2009. A 20 year old Pembroke man was arrested in connection with the incident shortly afterwards. He was subsequently released on Police bail. Police are now making a public appeal for anyone who may have seen anything in the Pitts Bay Road area near Smatt’s Cycles around 4am Saturday February 28th or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Mr. Augustus, who is of no fixed abode, was last seen on Thursday, February 26th 2009 at Friswells Hill in Devonshire. The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for any witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision which occurred around 12:50am Tuesday on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Longford Road, which claimed the life of 29 year old Kevin Mooney (the son of former Chief Inspector Charles Mooney). Anyone with any information about this collision or who may have seen the victim prior to it is encouraged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the motoring public that there are traffic lights erected on Harbour Road, Paget in the Newstead area due to ongoing construction. As a result, motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes if possible, as some delays are expected during the afternoon/evening rush hour.
