Firearm Incident

Around 2:50am on Monday, Police were on patrol in the Marsh Folly Road, Pembroke area when they were involved in a short pursuit of a motorcyclist in connection with a traffic offence. The rider lost control of the cycle near Rambling Lane but was not injured. The Police officers pursued the rider on foot and arrested him after a brief chase. The rider, a 30 year old Devonshire man, was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing by the Serious & Organised Crime Unit.

Weekend Firearm Incident/Vehicle Fires on St. Monica’s Road

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for witnesses to the firearm incident which occurred around 3:45am Saturday, February 21st and the vehicle fires which occurred around 3:25am Sunday, February 22nd.

Advisory Regarding Motorized Mini Bikes

The Bermuda Police Service is aware that motorized mini bikes are being used on the island’s roads, parks and on the railway trails particularly in the Khyber Pass and Ord Road, Warwick area and the Loyal Hill, Devonshire area. These vehicles are often ridden by young children; however these bikes are not licensed or insured.

Update - Missing Person Medhi David Yahi

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the members of the public who have come forward thus far and provided information to assist in locating missing French national Medhi David Yahi.The missing person report and subsequent search for Mr. Yahi was initiated after a member of the public found some of his personal effects on the beach at Chaplin Bay in Warwick around 9:10am on Monday.

Mehdi David YahiThe Bermuda Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 30 year old Mehdi David Yahi. Mr. Yahi, a French national visiting the island is described as a white male, approximately 5’7” tall of slim build, clean shaven with black hair.

Disturbance at Par-La-Ville Park

Around 3pm today, Police received a report of an assault at Par-La-Ville Park in Pembroke. Details about the incident are unclear at the moment; however, a 23 year old Devonshire man was arrested in connection with the matter. Inquiries are ongoing.

Suspicious Device

Around 2:45pm today, Police responded to a report of a suspicious explosive device at the Dellwood Middle School. It is believed that the device was a primitive, home made item made up of household chemicals. No one was injured and the student suspected of making the device is being dealt with by school officials and Police.

Bomb Threat

The Bermuda Police Service responded to a report of a bomb threat that took place at the Fairmont Southampton at 10:46 this morning. After liaising with hotel management it was ascertained that a bomb threat came by way of e-mail. It was later determined that the threat was a hoax. A full investigation into this incident is underway.

Firstly, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) would like to make it abundantly clear that the clandestine Police source that was quoted in the Bermuda Sun does not speak on behalf of the organization and the details are not an accurate depiction of the issues surrounding the adoption of speed cameras on the island.
