At 1:50pm, today (Thursday March 24th ), police attended a report of an armed robbery at that took place at T&L Budget Warehouse on St John’s Road, just 100 meters before North Shore Road and Admiralty House in Pembroke. Details are limited at this time but it appears that two males entered the premises and brandished what appears to be a firearm and made demands of money.
The upcoming Good Friday holiday and Easter Weekend will see a number of events and festive activities take place at various locations across the island. The BPS would like to encourage the public to enjoy themselves however, we are reminding everyone to act responsibly. The Motoring public should also be mindful that police will be visible on the roads during the holiday period.
At 2:42pm police and the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a suspicious package being identified at a business of King Street in Hamilton. The Bermuda Fire Services and the Bermuda Police have enacted their relevant protocols and we await the outcome of this matter.
At 9:07pm (Saturday) police and first responders attended a report of a two vehicle collision that took place on Middle Road in the area of Store Hill.
It appears that a woman was traveling east in her car on Middle Road when she lost control of her vehicle and collided with a woman in a car traveling in the opposite direction. This resulted in one of the women being pinned in her car, with the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service being called to extricate the woman out of her vehicle.
Police and first responders attended a report of road traffic collision that took place on North Shore Road in Devonshire, 200 meters east of Barkers Hill at 6:27pm on Saturday.
It appears that a female was traveling west on North Shore Road when she lost control of her car and made contact with the wooden guard rail.
The woman was assisted out of her car by a man who lived in the area and she escaped with minor injuries to her body.
Police and first responders attended a report of a bomb scare at ESC Limited on Mills Creek in Pembroke at 11:13am today. In the abundance of caution the building was evacuated and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit is currently in the process of assessing and checking the building. It should be noted that the Royal Bermuda Regiment were also on hand to provide specialist assistance.
An update will be given as soon as we receive more information.
Update: Building received all clear and evacuated persons have gone back into the building.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels - "Currently there are a number of rumours circulating throughout the Bermuda community, electronic and social that suggest overseas military assistance has been summoned to assist the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) during this period of civil protest and demonstrations.
These rumours are not true as the BPS overarching principle of policing public protests is to facilitate free speech while protecting the rights of everyone.
Around 9:50pm on Sunday, March 13th police officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Pasta Basta on Elliot Street in the City of Hamilton.
It appears that a lone male entered the restaurant brandishing what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money.
The offender, described as approximately 6 feet tall wearing a red mask, black pants and a brown top, then made good his escape with a quantity of cash.
Around 4:00pm on 9th March, police responded to a report of a robbery on Parsons Road near the junction with Deepdale Road, Pembroke. It was reported that the teenaged male victim was walking along Parsons Road with friends, when he was approached by a group of unknown males and struck in the face with a crash helmet. During the attack the suspects removed an Ipad from the victim’s person before running off toward the Deepdale area.
Around 2:52am on this morning, [09-Mar] police responded to a report of an aggravated burglary at a residence in the Radnor Close, Hamilton Parish area.
It was reported that three male suspects entered the home of a 62 year-old woman, with one of the suspects brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.
The suspects demanded money and jewellery before making good their escape on foot with a quantity of each. There were no reported injuries.
