Reported Attempted Armed Robbery at Point Mart

At 12:45pm today (Tuesday, November 1st) police attended a report of an attempted armed robbery that took place at Point Mart on St. John’s Road in Pembroke.

It appears that a male entered the premises, brandished what was believed to be a firearm and made demands of money.

At the time there were patrons in the store as well as employees. However, no injuries were reported.

Police Thank Public for Cooperation During Halloween

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their cooperation during Halloween, which was relatively uneventful.

Officers carried out high visibility patrols throughout the island, with no major incidents reported and less than ten incidents of anti-social behavior recorded, which mostly consisted of egg throwing.

Investigation Continues Into Reported Incidents of Graffiti

After examination of the recent reported incidents of graffiti, there is every reason to suggest that this is the action of a lone individual.

Presently police are attempting to identify this individual.

To that end, investigators are interested in speaking with members of the public who may have personal CCTV in the affected areas which could assist in detecting the offender.

Rider Critical in ICU After Collision Friday Night

At last check (7:20am Sunday, October 30th) the 62 year old Warwick man seriously injured when the auxiliary cycle he was riding collided with a car on Marsh Folly Road in Pembroke around 8:53pm Friday, October 28th was in critical condition at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The Warwick man was initially believed to have been riding a motorcycle.

Van Overboard

This morning, police responded to a report of a van found in the water off of Mangrove Bay Road, in Sandys. It appears that the driver of the van lost control of his vehicle and landed in the water.

As a result a 41 year old man has been arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Police have commenced an investigation into this incident and any witnesses are asked to contact police on 295-0011.

Collision on Marsh Folly Road [Updated]

Police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 8:53pm on Marsh Folly Road in Pembroke.

It appears that a motorcycle rider was traveling west on Marsh Folly Road when the male rider collided with a car that was traveling in the opposition direction.

The rider of the cycle was taken to the hospital where his condition is believed to be serious.

Elderly Driver Injured in Three Vehicle Paget Collision

Around 11:45am on Wednesday, October 26th police and first responders attended a reported three vehicle collision on South Road in Paget near the junction with Lovers Lane.

It appears that a car being driven along South Road struck a taxi and a truck, both being driven in the opposite direction.

The car driver, a 79 year old Paget woman, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Policing for Halloween

Halloween is fast approaching and on Monday, October 31st children and adults alike, dress up in costumes and enjoy a host of activities across the island.  Children will be going door to door to collect candy and many adults will gather at private Halloween functions across the island during the weekend prior to Monday.
