The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm that the item recovered last night following a brief police pursuit in the Marsh Lane, Devonshire area was actually an imitation firearm.
Officers immediately conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area for the male suspect. However he was not located – but the motorcycle involved has been impounded.
At 9:45pm police responded to a report of an incident that took place on Marsh Lane in Devonshire in the area of Ornamental Iron Works.
It appears that a male on a motorcycle came to the attention of police resulting in the rider taking police on a high speed chase. The rider subsequently ditched his motorcycle and ran into Devonshire Marsh.
At last check this morning (April 19th) the male rider hurt in a single vehicle 50cc scooter crash in Spanish Point Park around 8pm Wednesday, April 18th – now believed to be a 32 year old Smith’s parish man – was still receiving treatment at the hospital, listed in stable condition.
Currently his injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.
A few minutes before 8pm police and and first responders attended the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision that took place at the Spanish Point Park in Pembroke.
Initial reports suggest a 30 year old male was riding in the park and as a result lost control of his cycle and collided with a wall to the side of the park.
The rider was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and his injuries are considered serious. At present the relevant officers are processing the scene and more information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.
The Bermuda Police Service is currently recruiting, with interested candidates invited to apply for consideration as a Cadet or Constable.

Around 5:20pm Monday, April 16th police and first responders attended a reported two motorcycle collision on North Shore Road in Pembroke, near the junction with Stepney Lane.
It appears that the two motorcyclists involved were traveling in opposite directions when the collision occurred.
Both riders, a 19 year old Pembroke man and a 52 year old Pembroke woman, were injured, transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and later discharged.
Please be advised, there has been a two vehicle road traffic collision that took place on North Shore Road and Overview Hill between two motorcyclists.
Details are still emerging but it appears that two motorcycles collided, resulting with the male and female riders being taken to the hospital and at this juncture, their condition is unknown.
At last check this morning (April 16th) the 60 year old male BTC worker hurt in a reported industrial accident that occurred a few minutes after 10am Friday, April 13th at The Berkeley Institute campus was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital.
The Government Health and Safety Officer is continuing inquiries into this matter.
Around 7:10am Saturday, April 14th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle car crash on Wellington Street in St. George’s, near the junction with Fort George Hill.
It appears that the car involved was being driven along Wellington Street when it collided with a wall in the vicinity of Tiger Bay, causing the vehicle to overturn and end up on its side.
A few minutes after 10am today (April 13th) police and first responders attended a report of an industrial accident involving a male BTC worker who was doing work in a utility service area at the northern end of Berkeley Institute, which services CITV.
It appears that whilst he was going down into the service shaft, the 60 year old man slipped off his ladder and fell approximately 25 feet.
