No Significant Anti-Social Behaviour During Halloween

Bermuda Police Service (BPS) officers were on patrol across the island overnight as part of the Halloween policing operation.

Although officers responded to numerous calls for service including reports of objects/eggs thrown at vehicles, the BPS is pleased to report that the event passed without major incident, injury or any significant anti-social behaviour.

Car Overturns: Single Vehicle Crash on South Road in Devonshire

Around 7:20pm Monday, October 30th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Devonshire Bay Road.

It appears that the car involved was being driven in an easterly direction when it struck a wall and overturned.

The driver, believed to be a 22 year old Smith’s parish man, was not injured and apparently exited the vehicle without assistance.

Investigation Into Twelfth Road Fatality Continuing

At last check earlier this morning (October 30th) the injured 29 year old woman said to be from Warwick and believed to be the driver in Saturday night’s fatal car crash was in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The crash claimed the life of 30 year old Rakai Augustus and a Family Liaison Officer is assisting the deceased’s family as inquiries continue.

Motorcyclist Injured in Kindley Field Road Crash

Around 10pm Saturday, October 28th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash on Kindley Field Road in St. George’s in the vicinity of the round-a-bout near L.F. Wade International Airport.

It appears that the rider, believed to be a 44 year old St. George’s man, crashed after going off the road on to the grassy verge.

Twelfth Road Fatality for 2017: Rakai Augustus

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 30 year old Rakai Augustus and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Augustus was seriously injured around 11:40pm Saturday‎, October 28th when the car he was travelling in struck a wall in the Wellington Street, York Street St. George's area between Rose Hill Street and Fort George Hill.

He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ‎ambulance but sadly, later pronounced dead.

Fatal Car Crash on York Street in St. George's

Around 11:40pm Saturday‎, October 28th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle car crash on York Street in St. George's near the junction with Fort George Hill.

It appears that two people, believed to be a 29 year old Warwick woman and a 30 year old Devonshire man, were in the vehicle when it struck a wall.

Both were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ‎ambulance where sadly, the 30 year old man was later pronounced dead.

Policing Plan & Safety Advice for Halloween

Halloween is fast approaching and on Tuesday, October 31st many children and adults will dress up in costumes to enjoy a host of activities across the island. Typically children taking part in the festivities will go door to door to collect candy and adults will also gather at a variety of private Halloween functions during the weekend prior.

As usual police officers will be patrolling throughout the western, central and eastern parishes monitoring the various Halloween related activities.

Motorcyclist Injured After Crashing Into Parked Truck

Around 9:55pm Thursday, October 26th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported collision on Angle Street in the City of Hamilton, near the junction with Cedar Avenue.

It appears that a motorcyclist struck a parked truck.

The injured rider, believed to be a 34 year old Pembroke man, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Over a Week Later, Injured 30 Year Old Motorcyclist Remains in ICU

At last check earlier this morning (October 26th) the 30 year old Pembroke man injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car around 12:10am Saturday, October 14th at the junction of Elliot Street and Union Street in the City of Hamilton remained in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Inquiries continue regarding this collision and any witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.
