Promotions to Inspector

The Commissioner of Police is pleased to announce the promotion of Sergeants Dennis Astwood, Karema Flood, Darren Glasford, Shakisha Minors, Ronald Taylor and Kenten Trott to the post of Inspector.

All six were promoted by Commissioner Stephen Corbishley in front of family, friends and colleagues at a ceremony held in the Police Recreation Club hall, Prospect Devonshire 5:30pm today (January 11th).

Sudden Death of 74 Year Old Cheryl Eve

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 74 year old Mrs. Cheryl Eve and extends sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Mrs. Eve was found in an unresponsive state at home by a family member around 5:05pm Thursday, January 10th following a fire in her Verdmont Valley Drive, Smith’s parish apartment.

Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene and as Mrs. Eve was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, sadly she was later pronounced dead.

Third Man Arrested in Connection With Murder of Ronniko Burchall

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm the arrest of a 23 year old man in connection with the murder of Ronniko Burchall on 29th December, 2018.

This arrest marks the third person taken into custody in connection with the enquiry, led by Acting Detective Inspector Jason Smith of the Serious Crime Unit.

The investigating team continues to encourage anyone with information regarding this matter to contact them, or provide the information confidentially.

Sudden Death of 74 Year Old Woman in Smith's Parish [Updated]

Sadly, an unresponsive 74 year old woman rushed from the scene of a Verdmont Valley Drive, Smith’s parish house fire via ambulance earlier this evening (January 10th) was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

No further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time, pending notification of next of kin.

An investigation regarding the circumstances of this sudden death as well as the cause of the fire is underway by the Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service.

Sudden Death of 15 Year Old Kiara Paiva

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 15 year old Ms. Kiara Paiva and extends sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Ms. Paiva was found in an unresponsive state around 11:55am Monday, January 7th at her My Lord’s Bay Road, Hamilton parish residence by a family member.

Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene and as the teenager was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, sadly Ms. Paiva was later pronounced dead.

Sudden Death of 15 Year Old Girl in Hamilton Parish [Updated]

Around 11:55am today (January 7th) police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a report of a 15 year old girl in an unresponsive state at a My Lord’s Bay Road, Hamilton parish residence.

Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene and as the teenager was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, she was later pronounced dead.

No further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time, until her next of kin is notified.

Car Overboard After Saturday Crash in Southampton: Driver Unhurt

Around 5:20pm Saturday, January 5th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on Middle Road in Southampton.

It now appears that the car involved was being driven in the eastbound lane of Middle Road when it struck the roadside wooden fence, went down an embankment and ended up overboard, partially submerged, in the vicinity of Five Star Island.

Around 5:20pm today (January 5th) police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on Middle Road in Southampton.

Initial information indicates that a car went off the road and ended up overboard, partially submerged, in the vicinity of Five Star Island.

Apparently the driver, said to be a 60 year old man, escaped the crash unharmed and was the only person in the vehicle at the time.

Second Man Arrested in Connection With the Murder of Ronniko Burchall

Renewed Appeal: New Year’s Day Fatal Boat Crash Investigation

At last check this morning (January 3rd) the injured 30 year old man said to be from Smith’s parish – and believed to be the operator of the powerboat involved in the early morning New Year’s Day crash that claimed the life of 24 year old Mr. Adrian Hassell – was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital, after initially being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.

The investigation continues and the investigating officer is renewing the appeal for anyone who may have seen or spoken to Mr. Hassell on the evening of December 31st (New Year’s Eve) – particularly at City of Hamilton establishments Dog House or Pickled Onion on Front Street – as well as anyone who may have seen or spoken to the friends he was with that night.
