In the last week we announced our 7 ambitions change programme and a fundamental theme of that is to invest in local communities, particularly the parish Constables and other resources we’re placing there, but most importantly is to engage with local communities, listen to their concerns, respond to that and to shape our services better.

Motorcyclist Injured in Collision With Car Treated & Discharged

Around 7pm Wednesday, January 23rd police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision at the junction of Somerset Road and Beacon Hill Road in Sandys parish.

It appears that a motorcyclist was traveling along Somerset Road and a car driver was attempting to exit Beacon Hill Road when the collision occurred.

Inquiries Underway: Aggravated Burglary at Pompano Beach Club

Detectives are currently conducting inquiries into a reported aggravated burglary that occurred at Pompano Beach Club in Southampton early Sunday morning (January 20th).

It appears that an intruder – described as an approximately 6 foot tall black male in his early to mid-20s wearing a dark coloured hooded top – gained entry into a room on the premises between 3:15am and 3:20am Sunday.

Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints: January 25th – 27th

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Wednesday, January 16th) will be conducted starting this Friday, January 25th.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Friday, January 25th, Saturday, January 26th and Sunday, January 27th.

BPS Mourns the Death of Station Duty Officer Donna Roberts

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) mourns the death of Station Duty Officer Ms. Donna Roberts.

She passed away last Wednesday afternoon (January 16th) at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Ms. Roberts started with the BPS as a Traffic Warden on July 7th 1997 and after ten years was assigned as a Station Duty Officer, starting work in that role on September 4th 2007.

She also served with the Bermuda Reserve Police from 1997 until 2008.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Stephen Corbishley said: “It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death of our colleague, Station Duty Officer (SDO) Donna Roberts, at the age of 61.

Donna served with the BPS for over 20 years, and is fondly remembered for her pleasant manner, positive attitude, and highly active service both as a Traffic Warden and SDO.

Two Men Released on Police Bail as Car Crash Investigation Continues

Two 64 year old men arrested in connection with a single vehicle car crash that occurred around 7:45pm Saturday, January 19th on South Road in Paget near Coral Beach Club have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The incident remains under active investigation and the appeal for witnesses continues.

Renewed Witness Appeal: Single Vehicle Car Crash Saturday Night [Updated]

The appeal continues for witnesses to a single vehicle car crash that occurred around 7:45pm Saturday 19th January 2019 on South Road in Paget, near the Coral Beach Club, where the vehicle involved went off the road.

The occupants, said to be two 64 year old men, were both arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries continue regarding the circumstances that led to the crash.

Reported Single Vehicle Car Crash on South Road in Paget [Updated]

Police responded to a report of an incident that took place on South Road in Paget 100 metres west of the entrance to Elbow Beach at 7:42pm today (Saturday).

It appears that a male driver of the car lost control of his vehicle resulting in the car going down an embankment by Coral Beach.

The driver and passenger were assisted out of the car by a member of the public and the driver, a 63 year old male was arrested for suspicion of driving whilst impaired.

62 Year Old Male Pedestrian Struck by Car Remains Critical in ICU [Updated]

At last check around 11:20am today (January 18th) the 62 year old man – said to be from Hamilton parish – seriously injured when a car struck him as he walked along North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near Trinity Church Road around 3pm Thursday, remained listed in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The driver involved, said to be a 41 year old St. George’s woman, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and later released on police bail.

Traffic Advisory: 2019 Bermuda Marathon & Half Marathon

The motoring public is reminded that traffic diversions and parking restrictions will be in effect for the 2019 Bermuda Marathon & Half Marathon this Sunday.

The event is part of the Bermuda Marathon Weekend taking place from Friday, January 18th until Sunday, January 20th.
