Two Men Arrested After Reported Disturbance at BAA Saturday Night

Around 10pm Saturday, April 20th a police officer was conducting a liquor licence check at the Bermuda Athletic Association (BAA) on Woodlands Road in Pembroke when a scuffle occurred between a group of men at the front of the clubhouse.

Other officers promptly attended the premises to assist in defusing the situation.

Two men, said to be 31 and 24 years old, were arrested in connection with the incident.

Two Bermuda Reserve Police Officers Honoured at Annual General Meeting

The Bermuda Reserve Police (BRP) held their Annual General Meeting last night (Thursday, April 18th) and two awards were given: Reserve of the Year and The Dawn Darby Award (for most volunteered hours in 2018).

Reserve Constable 1551 Samantha Savoury received the Reserve of the Year Award for her consistent and dedicated service, which goes above and beyond that expected of a BRP officer.

Reported Armed Robbery of Man in Southampton [Updated]

Around 2:30pm today (April 18th) police officers responded to a report of a disturbance that turned out to be an armed robbery that occurred in the area of Rockaway Road, Southampton.

Details are still emerging, but it appears that a man sitting on a wall outside the Port Royal Gas Station was approached by two other men, with one of those men apparently brandishing a bladed article.

Five Vehicles Damaged & Three Hurt in Harbour Road, Paget Collision

Around 3:30pm Wednesday, April 17th police and fellow first responders attended a reported collision on Harbour Road in Paget in the vicinity of Valley Road.

It appears that a motorcyclist with a pillion passenger was traveling east on Harbour Road near Lower Ferry when traffic in the area came to a stop due to roadwork and the collision occurred.

Renewed Appeal: Road Fatality of 21 Year Old Antoine Seaman

The investigation regarding the fatal collision involving a police vehicle that claimed the life of 21 year old Antoine Seaman and occurred around 1:50am Monday, April 15th on Somerset Road in Sandys parish – near the junction with Wilson Place – continues.

The investigating officer, Sergeant Dorian Astwood of the Roads Policing Unit, is renewing the appeal for witnesses as well as anyone who can help identify the last movements of Mr. Seaman from 11pm Sunday, April 14th until 1:50am Monday, April 15th.

Reported Armed Robbery at Champs Variety: No Reported Injuries

Around 12:45pm today (April 15th) police officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Champs Variety on The Glebe Road in Pembroke.

It appears that two suspects entered the store and demanded money, with one of the individuals pointing an object at the cashier that was covered in a piece of clothing – but believed to be a firearm.

Fourth Road Fatality of 2019: 21 Year Old Antoine Seaman [Updated]

We are sensitive to the fact that this fatality took place in the early hours of this morning and Antoine’s community are still coming to grips with this most unfortunate situation.

Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints: April 19th – 21st

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Monday, April 8th) will be conducted starting this Friday (Good Friday), April 19th.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Friday, April 19th, Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st.

Temporary Closure Order Issued to Southampton Rangers Sports Club

Following two anti-social incidents this past weekend, the Bermuda Police Service has exercised its authority under the Liquor Licence Act Section 51A to close Southampton Rangers Sports Club from 12am Sunday, April 14th until 12am Monday, April 15th.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police James Howard, who is in charge of the Tactical Operations Division, issued the temporary closure order this afternoon (April 12th).

Heavy Truck Downs Overhead Communication Lines in Devonshire

Around 11:30am today (April 12th) police officers were dispatched to an incident involving a heavy truck on Middle Road in Devonshire.

It appears that the heavy truck was being driven in the eastbound lane of Middle Road when it pulled down overhead communication lines near the junction with Brighton Hill Road.

Temporary traffic diversions were in effect in the vicinity of Christ Church until technicians from the affected companies arrived on scene to carry out necessary repairs.
