Sergeant Dorian Astwood, Roads Policing Unit - Good Day,
Thank you for joining us today. I am Police Sergeant Dorian Astwood of the Bermuda Police Service Roads Policing Unit.
Many of you may recall on July 15th, 2018, in the early hours of that morning, young, vibrant Jen-Naya Simmons, who was only 18 years of age, had her life tragically taken, after being involved in a road traffic collision.
The Bermuda Police Service is currently recruiting, with interested candidates invited to apply for consideration as a Constable.
Constable applicants:
must have a high school diploma or GED.
must be between 19 and 49 years of age.
Around 7am today (March 7th) police, fire and ambulance personnel responded to a reported collision on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Wilson Place.
Initial information indicates that a car and a motorcycle were involved with the rider, believed to be a 35 year old Warwick man, sustaining a leg injury.
He was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and at last check was listed in stable condition.
The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Tuesday, February 26th) will be conducted starting this Friday, March 8th.

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 39 year old Mr. Shannon-Hugh Davis and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. Davis – understood to be a Hamilton parish resident – was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding east was struck by a 38 year old male motorcyclist traveling in the opposite direction on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish, between Trinity Church Road and Panorama Drive, around 6:40pm Friday, March 1st.
At 6:41pm police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on North Shore Road at the junction of Panorama Drive in Hamilton Parish.
It appears that two males on separate motorcycles were traveling in opposite directions on North Shore Road when the rider who was traveling west attempted overtaking a car and in the process he hit the car and subsequently collided with a motorcyclist traveling in an easterly direction.
