Ninth Road Fatality for 2012

At approximately 11:28pm Tuesday, December 25th 2012, first responders were dispatched to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision located at North Shore Road and Old Road in Hamilton parish.

This single vehicle collision involved a motorcycle ridden by a 24 year old male who was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.

Malcolm Augustus Murder Investigation Underway

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that at about 12:05am today, police officers and medical responders attended Anchorage Lane in St. George’s in response to a report of gunfire.
 
On arrival officers met the 20 year old victim, who was on the golf course, and who appeared to have been shot. He was conveyed to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where a doctor later pronounced him dead.
 
A full investigation into this incident is underway, being led by Detective Inspector Dave Greenidge.

Advisory Regarding Illegal Parking Near Elbow Beach

There are many persons who are presently at the Elbow Beach celebrating the holiday festivities. However as a result, there are an overabundance of vehicles parked on South Road in Paget and surrounding side roads and streets.

Many of these vehicles are parked illegally and causing  major safety hazards on the roads.

Officers went to the venue and communicated over the PA system for violators to have their vehicles moved with very little success.

20 Year Old Man Fatally Shot in St. George's

Police responded to a report of a firearms incident that took place at approximately 12:05am on Tuesday, December 25th 2012, in the area of Anchorage Lane, St. George's.

Upon police arrival it was ascertained that a 20 year old man was shot and killed.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area of St. George's Golf Club to please contact the main police number 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Reported Serious Collision on Berry Hill Road

Around 2:45am on Thursday, December 20th police and first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle collision on Berry Hill Road in Paget. The rider, a 42 year old American man, was apparently seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check the victim was in the Intensive Care Unit in serious but stable condition. Traffic was diverted away from the area while collision investigators examined the scene. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.

Serious Crime Unit Gift Necessities to STAR Lighthouse Charity

Once again this year, officers from the Serious Crime Unit agreed to forego exchanging presents during the Christmas season. Instead they collected donations in order to provide necessities to the clients of the STAR Lighthouse charity. Serious Crime Unit support staff member Ms. Monique Heyliger was instrumental in selecting this worthy charity, which supports individuals living with HIV and AIDS.

Reported Medical Emergency in Sandys Parish Confirmed Assault

Around 12:45am on Thursday, 6th December 2012, police and first responders attended a reported medical emergency outside Woody’s Bar & Restaurant in Sandys parish. On arrival officers observed an unresponsive male on the premises. The victim, a 29 year old Pembroke man, was treated at the scene by EMTs and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of apparent head injuries. He was initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit; however the victim is currently hospitalised abroad receiving specialised care for serious head injuries. His injuries are not as a result of a shooting.

Reported Medical Emergency in Sandys Parish

Around 12:45am on Thursday, December 6th police and first responders attended a reported medical emergency outside Woody’s Bar & Restaurant in Sandys parish. Details are unclear at this time; however a 29 year old Pembroke man was found lying injured on the ground outside the premises. He was treated at the scene by EMTs before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. At last check the Pembroke man was in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Robbery at Flatts Jewellery Store

Around 11am on Wednesday, December 5th police officers responded to a reported robbery at Link to Link on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish. It appears that around 10:45am an unknown male entered the jewellery store brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The offender managed to take an undisclosed quantity of jewellery before making good his escape on the back of a motorcycle. There were no reported injuries.
