Firearms Search Warrant Executed in Friswells Hill, Pembroke Area

On Saturday, July 1st armed police officers executed a search warrant under the Firearms Act in the Friswells Hill, Pembroke area where a teenaged male was arrested without incident in connection with an ongoing police investigation.

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank area residents for their cooperation while officers carried out the operation and encourage anyone with information regarding the location of illegal firearms to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739 or the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.

Traffic Advisory: Funeral for Constable Latasha Gibson

On Wednesday 5th July at 1pm a ceremonial police funeral for the late Constable Latasha Gibson will take place at The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity on Church Street in the City of Hamilton.

The motoring public is advised that the following temporary traffic diversions and parking restrictions will be in effect, with police officers assisting in traffic management.

Reported Two Vehicle Collision in Devonshire

Around 11pm Saturday, July 1st police and first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision at the junction of Watlington Road East and Brighton Hill Road in Devonshire involving a car and a motorcycle

Details remain limited at this time.

However the motorcyclist, believed to be a 52 year old man, was injured and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Sudden Death at Westgate Correctional Facility [Updated]

Around 11:30pm Saturday, July 1st police and first responders were dispatched to a report of a male inmate found in an unresponsive state at the Westgate Correctional Facility.

Despite lifesaving efforts by a Corrections officer, the 59 year old man was later pronounced dead.

A police led investigation is currently underway regarding the circumstances.

Advisory: Deceptive Online Employment Advertisement

The Bermuda Police Service was recently made aware of a deceptive online employment advertisement that appeared locally, offering an enticing commission for each sale made.

Detectives from the Organised & Economic Crime Department examined the ad offering temporary employment – for a business supposedly headquartered at 26 Oxford St. Chula Vista United States – as well as an included promotional video and determined that the part time job listing exhibited the characteristics of a pyramid scheme.

Motorcyclist & Pedestrian Injured in St. David’s Road Collision

Around 10pm Tuesday, June 27th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported collision on St. David’s Road in St. George’s near the junction with Stocks Road, involving a motorcyclist and a pedestrian.

The 52 year old male rider and the 38 year old male pedestrian were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Both men are believed to be from St. George’s.

Sudden Death of Calvin Carmichael

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 55 year old Calvin Carmichael and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

It has now been confirmed that Mr. Carmichael was found unconscious aboard his 24 ft. boat moored in the waters off Lagoon Park dock around 7:40pm Monday, June 26th.

Members of the public assisted police officers in securing the vessel to the dock, where emergency medical personnel commenced lifesaving efforts.

Reported Missing Person Shania Haller Located

Ms. Haller returned to her Sandys parish residence this morning (June 27th) safe and well.

Sudden Death in Sandys Parish [Updated]

Around 7:40pm Monday, June 26th police and first responders were dispatched to a report of an unresponsive male in the Lagoon Road, Sandys parish area.

Initial information suggests that an unconscious 55 year old man, believed to be from Southampton, was found adrift aboard a boat in the waters just off Lagoon Road.

Reported Missing Person: Shania Haller [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 20 year old Shania Haller.

Ms. Haller lives in Sandys parish and is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 3 inches tall with long black hair.

She was apparently last seen at the car park in the Boaz Island, Sandys parish area around 10pm Saturday, June 24th wearing a sleeveless puffy black jacket with beige fur around the collar and carrying a motorcycle helmet.

There is concern for the wellbeing of Ms. Haller, who has never gone missing before.

In addition to frequenting Sandys parish, she is known to visit the North Shore Road Flatts (Smith’s parish) area as well as the Bailey’s Bay Hamilton parish area.
