Following recent reported burglaries at commercial premises, business owners are reminded to take basic crime prevention steps to minimise the attraction and impact of these acquisitive crimes.

Man Injured in Front Street Disturbance

Around 2:30am today (Thursday, June 8th) police officers and first responders were dispatched to a reported disturbance on Front Street in the City of Hamilton.

Initial information suggests that a fight involving several individuals occurred in the vicinity of Parliament Street.

Sixth Road Fatality for 2017: Kenneth Simmons

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 46 year old Kenneth Simmons and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Simmons was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a truck around 11pm Friday, May 19th on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish near Odyssey Drive.

He was initially treated in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital before being airlifted overseas for further medical treatment.

At last check earlier this morning (June 6th) the 8 year old boy injured in a motocross cycle crash on West Pembroke Primary School field around 2:25pm Sunday, June 4th was in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses that have not yet come forward are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.

At last check earlier this morning (June 5th) the 8 year old boy injured in a motocross cycle crash on West Pembroke Primary School field around 2:25pm Sunday, June 4th was in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

It is now understood that the boy struck a wall while riding the motocross cycle on the school field.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.

Two Injured Men Recovering: Hamilton Harbour Fatal Boat Collision

At last check today, Sunday June 4th, the 69 year old New Zealand man and 26 year old UK man injured in Thursday night’s Hamilton harbour fatal boat collision were in stable condition and continuing to receive treatment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH).

In due course it is anticipated that the UK man, currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, will be airlifted overseas for further medical treatment – while the New Zealand man, who was recently transferred from the Intensive Care Unit to a general ward, is expected to be discharged from KEMH later today.

Around 2:25pm Sunday, June 4th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported motocross cycle crash on West Pembroke Primary School property.

Details are limited at this time.

However initial information suggests that the rider, believed to be an 8 year old boy, was injured and taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Investigation Continues: Fatal Boat Collision in Hamilton Harbour

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that around 10:40pm Thursday 1st June 2017 a 26 year old local male resident was driving a 17 ft. centre console vessel from Front Street Ferry Terminal towards White’s Island.

The boat collided with a 9 ft. Zodiac inflatable carrying three visitors to our island who were thrown overboard.

Fatal Boat Collision in Hamilton Harbour

Around 10:50pm Thursday, June 1st marine police and first responders were dispatched to ‎a reported collision involving vessels in Hamilton harbour.

Details are limited at this time. However, it appears that three smaller boats were involved with four people injured, three men and one woman.

All four were rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, where the woman was pronounced dead.

Counterfeit Bermuda $50 Currency Circulating

The public is advised to be vigilant regarding counterfeit Bermuda $50 notes currently in circulation.

Employees are once again advised that if counterfeit cash is detected during a transaction, the member of staff receiving the fake money should hold on to it, note the description of the individual who tendered it and contact police immediately.
