The Bermuda Police Service is once again reminding residents to rema vigilant regarding phone calls, e-mails and other correspondence from unknown persons that attempt to obtain personal information and other sensitive data.
One recent example is a telephone scam featuring an automated voice recording, apparently from a U.S. prison, which prompts the person to accept the call by pressing a specific number.
Around 12:35am Friday, August 9th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle crash on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish in the vicinity of Shelly Bay MarketPlace.
It appears that the rider involved, said to be a 42 year old Devonshire woman, struck a wall while traveling east on North Shore Road near the junction with Seon Drive.
Around 2:50pm Wednesday, August 7th police received a report of an overturned car on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Cambridge Road.
It now appears that the car involved was being driven west along Somerset Road when it struck a wall and overturned in the vicinity of Somerset MarketPlace.
The driver and sole occupant, said to be a 58 year old Sandys parish man, was not hurt but attended the hospital as a precaution.
Around 6pm Tuesday, August 6th police officers and ambulance personnel responded to a reported marine incident in the Robinson’s Marina, Somerset Bridge area.
It appears that a 17 year old local male on a Jet Ski struck the stern anchor of a moored yacht.
Apparently the injured teen was rescued and brought ashore by the yacht’s captain before being transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
Around 2:50pm Wednesday, August 7th police received a report of an overturned car on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the Somerset MarketPlace.
Early information suggests that no one was seriously injured.
However, traffic delays are expected in the area while the scene is processed.
At last check this morning (August 6th) the 47 year old male rider seriously hurt in a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred around 8:55pm Monday, August 5th on Store Hill in Smith’s parish was listed in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
Any witnesses are now encouraged to call Constable Gregory Stienlet on the main police telephone number 295-0011 as soon as possible.
Around 8:55pm Monday, August 5th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash on Store Hill in Smith’s parish.
Early information suggests that the male rider came into contact with a wall before crashing.
He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and at last check was unconscious.
Ten motorists were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving over the Cup Match holiday weekend, with road sobriety checkpoints conducted in eight parishes from the evening of Thursday, August 1st until the evening of Sunday, August 4th.
There are no road sobriety checkpoints scheduled for this coming weekend.
However, members of the public are urged not to drive, ride or operate a boat under the influence – for their own safety and that of all road users as well as those navigating our waters.
Around 9:15am Thursday, August 1st police officers responded to a report of a man on the roof at a Wellington Back Road, St. George’s residence.
At first the 24 year old male resident was apparently on the roof naked, which was captured on video and shared via social media.
However, on police arrival he was fully clothed, spoken with and came down from the roof without incident.
Around 2:45am Wednesday, July 31st police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported serious two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick in the vicinity of Sleepy Hollow Lane involving a car and a motorcycle.
It appears that the motorcyclist was traveling west on Middle Road and the car was being driven in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.
