The Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley has confirmed that the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) will be supporting the annual Labour Day this Monday.
The Commissioner stated: “Past Labour Day events at Union Square have seen crowds in the region of 2,000 or more be in attendance and we anticipate that a similar crowd will be present at this year’s event.
Two 24 year old men – both believed to be from St. George’s – have been arrested in connection with the assault of a security officer at East End Mini Yacht Club that occurred around 12:30am Saturday, August 24th.
Both men remain in police custody at this time pending further inquiries.
A 38 year old St. George’s man arrested shortly after the incident has since been released on police bail.
The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is aware of recent allegations circulating on social media about instances of alleged past or current inappropriate sexual behaviour.
Members of the public are reminded that formal complaints are required by law in order for the police to investigate such allegations. Online statements and social media posts do not qualify as formal complaints.
A 17 year old male has been arrested in connection with the theft of a handbag from a 52 year old female Canadian visitor’s rental scooter basket that occurred around 12:15pm Friday, August 23rd in the parking lot at Horseshoe Bay beach, Southampton.
He remains in police custody at this time pending further inquiries.
A 15 year old boy arrested later Friday afternoon in connection with this incident has since been released on police bail.
The 27th of August is the one year anniversary of the murder of Mr. Danshun Swann.
Danshun was stabbed to death on South Road Southampton, just outside of the entrance to the Southampton Rangers Sports Club shortly after midnight Monday 27th August 2018.
This investigation is an active investigation and detectives are renewing their appeal for witnesses to come forward.
A 19 year old woman believed to be from Paget has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of an 18 year old Devonshire woman around 12:30am Sunday, August 25th near Horseshoe Bay beach, Southampton. She remains in police custody at this time.
The 18 year old woman’s injuries are not life threatening and apparently the arm injury sustained by an 18 year old Devonshire man at the same location is not consistent with a stab wound.
Around 12:30am Sunday, August 25th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported assault.
It appears that an 18 year old year old Devonshire woman was at the Rum Bum Beach Bar, Horseshoe Bay beach, Southampton with friends when she was involved in a dispute with another young woman.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 68 year old Kathleen Emam, who was visiting Bermuda with her husband onboard the cruise ship Norwegian Escape and extends sincere condolences to Mr. Emam, their family and friends.
Mrs. Emam, from New York U.S.A. was initially said to be 62 years old.
Around 12:30pm Friday, August 23rd police officers responded to a report of a theft.
It appears that a female visitor’s handbag was removed from the basket of her rental scooter, which was parked at the Horseshoe Bay beach parking lot.
No weapons were used and there were no reported injuries.
Around 2:10pm Thursday, August 22nd police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a Jet Ski incident in waters off Somerset.
Details are limited at this time.
However, early information indicates that a female visitor who was apparently a passenger on a Jet Ski fell off and became unresponsive during a tour.
