CONFIRMED FIREARMS INCIDENT

A thirty-five year old man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his left arm, following a firearms incident in Pembroke Parish.

The incident occurred at around 11:00pm on Tuesday 24th March, at the junction of Two Way Deepdale and Parsons Road.

The victim was conveyed to the King Edward the Seventh Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment to his injuries which are not considered to be life threatening.

Quick action by police officers resulted in a person of interest in connection with this incident being taken into custody. That person is now assisting police with their inquiries.

Anyone with information on this latest firearms incident is asked to contact Detective Chief Inspector Arthur Glasford, or Detective Sergeant Jason Smith, of the Serious Crime Unit, on 247-1174 or 247-1128 respectively.

BPS & RBR to Conduct Community Advisory Points

The Public Health (COVID-19) Regulations 2020 give powers to put in place restrictions and requirements on all travelers who have been placed on isolation and/or active monitoring. 

To that end, Martin Weekes, Assistant Commissioner of Police Stated:

"The Bermuda Police Service (BPS), will be working with their colleagues in the Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR), on methods to enforce these regulations, as we seek to suppress the transfer of the COVID-19 virus through the control of unnecessary social movement and influencing of social distancing. 

This is also in keeping with the requirements of the Quarantine Act to mitigate the risk presented by individuals / groups. 

As such, Officers from departments across the BPS, will be deployed in conjunction with RBR personnel. 

There will be seven initial static Community Advisory Points deployed at key locations across the island. Drivers will be stopped and they, along with any occupants of their vehicle, checked against a list of those who have been issued restrictions by the Health Dept. 

Any persons who appear on the list and have no valid reason for being on the road, will be instructed to return to their residence and to follow the requirements that have been issued to them by the Health Department. Their names will be taken and communicated to the Health Department for further actions to be taken.

BPS COVID-19 Public Guidance

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise members of the public, that in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be implementing certain precautionary measures in

keeping with government guidelines.

This is to ensure that we continue to provide a high standard of service to the community whilst at the same time, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all BPS staff.

Please Use 911 for all emergencies. 

We ask that you do not visit police stations to make a report unless the matter is of a serious nature.  We urge you instead to call our main line, 295-0011, and you will be forwarded on to the relevant department.

Hand sanitizer stations will be available at the entrances of all police stations. We ask that you use them upon entering the station.

We will regularly disinfect doors and countertops at police stations to help avoid contamination.

If the situation warrants that an officer comes to your residence, we urge you to inform the officer you speak with on the phone, whether:

•       Any occupant has been diagnosed as having Covid 19

•       Any occupant has recently returned from overseas travel

•       Any occupant has displayed symptoms of cold or flu

Death of Clarke Fox

The Bermuda Police can confirm the death of 28 year old Clarke Fox.

Mr. Fox succumbed to injuries sustained in a firearms attack shortly before 2:45 pm yesterday, Tuesday March 17th, at the corner of Court and Elliot streets in Pembroke Parish.

A Liaison Officer has been assigned to the family.

The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family of Mr. Fox.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the main police number on, 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers number, 8008477.

Man Dies in Road Traffic Collision

Around 4:00pm this afternoon [17-Mar-2020], Police and other first responders were called out to a two vehicle collision, involving a car and a motorcycle just east of Four Ways Inn on Middle Road in Paget. 

Upon arrival Police found that CPR was being performed on the bike rider, a 68 year old Southampton male. 

He was subsequently transported via ambulance to King Edward the Seventh Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

Traffic is being diverted at Manse Road and Cobb’s Hill Road Junctions. Traffic delays should be expected.

This is the second fatal road traffic collision for 2020.

Two Men Injured in Court St Shooting Incident

At around 2:45 pm today, Tuesday 17th March, police were called out to a reported firearms incident at the junction of Court and Elliot Street in Pembroke Parish. 
Both men were taken to King Edward Hospital via private vehicle. The extent of their injuries remain unknown. 

Reports are several shots were fired, resulting in two individuals suffering gunshot wounds. 

The suspects are described as two males on a red and black motorcycle. 

The rider was described as wearing dark clothing and a dark helmet. 

The pillion passenger was said to be wearing dark colored clothing and a white helmet.

Missing Person Allan Power

The Bermuda Police Service is also seeking the public’s assistance in locating 66 year old Allan Power.

Mr. Power was last seen at around 4:00 pm on Tuesday March 3rd, at Granaway Heights Southampton, 

Mr. Power is described as a white Latin male with a tanned complexion, of slim build, 5’ 10” tall, with shoulder length grey hair and speaks with a Spanish accent.

Missing Person Jane Smith

The Bermuda Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 28 year old Jane Smith, also known as Lauren Woodhead or Lauren Aitken.

Miss Smith was last seen at the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute, at around 12:10 pm, on Wednesday 4th March.

Miss Smith is described as being very thin, 5’ 9” tall, with light brown shoulder length hair and speaks with a strong British accent.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jane Smith, also known as Lauren Woodhead or Lauren Aitken, is asked to contact the main police number, 295-0011

 

 

 

 

 

 

UNCONFIRMED FIREARMS INCIDENT.

At around 10:30 pm on Tuesday 3-Mar-2020, the Bermuda Police Service received several reports of gunshots in the Jones Village, Warwick area.

Out of an abundance of caution, officers conducted extensive door to door enquiries and searches in the Jones Village and surrounding areas.

However, they found no forensic or other evidence to confirm that a firearm had been discharged.

Further, checks at KEMH did not indicate anyone was being treated for gunshot wounds.

Checks of CCTV in the area also showed nothing to confirm a firearms incident.
