IMMITATION FIREARM RECOVERED:
At around 10:20 pm on Sunday 21st, Jun, police received information of a male acting suspiciously in the area of Union Street in the City of Hamilton.
Reports are the suspect was seen to have placed an object inside a trash receptacle located on the sidewalk.
Officers responded and upon inspecting the trash can which belongs to the Corporation of Hamilton, they recovered an imitation firearm.
THEFT FROM CHURCH:
At 11:03 p.m. on Sunday 21st June, police received a report of a burglary at Christ Church on Middle Road in Warwick. Information is that the incident occurred sometime between 5:00 p.m. on Friday 20th June and 10:30 p.m. on Saturday 21st June.
There was no sign of forced entry.
An unknown suspect reportedly entered the church, and stole a quantity of foodstuff including 3 boxes of frozen chicken, which were meant to provide meals as part of a community feeding program which has been operated by the church since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
STOLEN BIKE RECOVERED:
Shortly after midnight on Sunday 21st June, police received a report of two males behaving in a suspicious manner in the Admiralty House, Pembroke, area.
The pair who were travelling on a motorbike, entered the park and headed towards Mariners Lane.
They then abandoned the bike near the waterside on mariners Lane. It was later discovered that the bike was reported stolen back on the 29th of May, this year from the Berkeley Hill, Pembroke area.

Around 10:50pm 19th June, police responded to a report of a serious assault on a 33 yr-old female in the Cedar Hill Warwick area.
Details are limited at this time however it was initially reported that the victim was in the yard of a private residence when she was set upon by a group of unknown individuals brandishing at least one machete.
The victim was then conveyed to KEMH for treatment of her injuries which are deemed to be serious.
The scene was processed by forensic officers and an investigation has commenced.

Residents Reminded to be Wary of the Mystery Shopper Scam

The Bermuda Police Service is once again reminding residents to be wary of the mystery shopper scam, as a number of residents have recently reported falling victim to the ruse.
The scam entices local social media users by offering employment as a mystery shopper that allegedly has the potential to earn thousands of dollars by completing simple tasks – such as purchasing certain items, then reporting back on their shopping experience.
If a local resident agrees to be a mystery shopper, they will usually receive a quantity of money into their personal bank account. A small amount of the total, they are told, can be kept as payment for their mystery shopper services.
They are then asked to withdraw the remainder of the cash and instructed to send that money overseas via a local money service business.
However, any funds deposited into local accounts through this scheme often originate from crime – mainly phishing scams or other electronic fraud – and local residents deceived by this scam are unwittingly being used to launder criminal proceeds.
Local banks are already vigilant for this suspicious activity and are likely to freeze the assets of any resident’s account found to be involved in the mystery shopper scam.
Murder Victim Identified as Mr. Joshua Rowse

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 22-year-old Joshua Rowse.
Mr. Rowse passed away at the King Edward the VII Memorial Hospital, after he fell victim to a brutal knife attack on Sunday 13th June, 2020, outside the Rubis Service Station on the South Shore Road in Warwick.
Four men have now been taken into custody in connection with what is being investigated as the murder of Joshua Rowse.
However, investigators would still like to hear from and speak with anyone who may have witnessed or have any information on this tragic incident, no matter how insignificant you may think it to be, to please contact Acting Detective Chief Inspector Kenten Trott on 717-2345, the main police number, 295-0011 or, 211.

A family Liaison Officer has been appointed to assist the Rowse family and the Bermuda Police service extends our sincerest condolences to them at this most difficult time.
Recent Robberies

There have recently been a number of incidents where individuals who have posted items for sale on social media, are relieved of the items without receiving payment upon showing up at an agreed location to complete these transactions.
There have also been instances where prospective buyers are relieved of cash without receiving the item advertised.
The BPS advises against cash transactions and instead, have payment transferred into a bank account.
If this is not possible and there must be a face to face exchange of cash, please arrange to carry out such transactions during the daylight hours, in high traffic areas.
This will minimise the risk of you being robbed of your cash, or item you’re selling.
Also, make sure that you are shown proper proof of ownership of the item being sold, so as to avoid falling victim to purchasing stolen goods.
Police Respond to Arrest Video

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a video clip circulating on social media and showing the arrest of an individual by armed police officers on the evening of Monday 25th May.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes stated, “The actions of the officers shown in the video were in response to information received and as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt gang activity and anti-social behaviour. The individual shown being taken into custody has since been bailed.
Despite the sensational appearance of the video clip, I can assure the public that the actions of the arresting officers have been reviewed, as is the case with every police use of force, and found to be proportionate to the threat posed based on the information received.
ACOP Weekes Comments On Police Officer Struck By Motorcyclist

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Martin Weekes, today commented that over the weekend, officers from the Roads Policing Unit were on duty enforcing road traffic laws, and in particular speed offences and offences involving driving whilst impaired.
Whilst not able to speak to specific incidents, Mr. Weekes noted that an officer was injured when he was struck by a motorcycle ridden by a subject who was later arrested for driving whilst impaired. The officer was treated at the hospital for his injuries.
Fourth Year Anniversary of the Murder of Patrick Dill

Today marks the fourth year anniversary of the murder of Patrick Dill.
Patrick Dill was murdered, (shot to death), outside his home on Saturday 21st May, 2016. This was a senseless, insensitive act that took the life of a twenty-seven-year-old man who was in the prime of his life.
Detective Sergeant Jason Smith stated:
“Patrick was a vibrant young man pursuing his goals and a productive member of society who was gunned down by unscrupulous men.
The investigation into Patrick’s murder is ongoing and today on the anniversary of his death, the police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and assist with this investigation, to help bring closure to his family, and friends.
Things are at a critical stage and the police need your assistance to advance this matter.
We are aware that members of our community who have information crucial to our investigation, may be reluctant to come forward. However, this information is invaluable to piecing together the strands that can tie everything together.
Patrick’s family are still grieving and are looking for answers as to why he was taken away from them.
The Death of Mr. Henry Santucci

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS), can now confirm the identity of the victim in that fatal stabbing incident on Saturday 16th May, as 60-year-old Mr. Henry Santucci.
The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincerest condolences to the family of Mr. Santucci during this difficult time.
The BPS continues to appeal for anyone with information on this incident, to please contact the main police number on 295-0011 or the police reporting number 211.
