Man Arrested for Offensive Weapon
At around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, 14th July, police received a report of a male allegedly armed with a knife, causing a disturbance inside a North Hamilton establishment.
Upon police arrival, it was discovered the subject had left the area on a motorcycle, while not wearing a helmet.
A search of the area commenced, and the subject was seen approaching a residence on Middletown Lane, Pembroke, when he lost control of the motorcycle and fell onto the roadway.
Checks indicated that the motorcycle was unlicensed and uninsured.
Officers approached the male and arrested him on suspicion of having an offensive weapon. A subsequent search revealed he had a box cutter in his possession.
He was then arrested for being in possession of an offensive weapon.
Officers also smelt alcohol emanating from the man’s breath and saw that his eyes were glazed. He refused to submit a breath sample when requested to do so.
The suspect was charged with carrying an offensive weapon without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failing to comply with a demand for a breath test. He was also issued four moving violation tickets for riding an uninsured motorcycle, riding an unlicensed motorcycle, not having a driver’s license and riding without a helmet.

Firearms incident
At around 11:20 pm on Friday 10th July, police responded to reports of gunshots in the Rockywold Drive area of Sandys Parish. Police quickly established that two males were seen walking through the area shortly before shouting was heard, followed by what are believed to be three gunshots.
Although all of the circumstances are not totally clear, there appears to have been a confrontation between a number of males. A man was seen running away from the area, followed shortly thereafter by two males speeding away on a motorcycle.
An area resident subsequently reported that what they believed to be a spent round from a discharged firearm had pierced their living room window and was lodged in a wall in their living room.
Officers from the Forensic Support Unit attended the scene and were able to confirm that a firearm had been discharged.
A full investigation has been commenced into this shooting incident which as stated earlier appears to be as a result of feuding between a group of unknown males. Police uniform officers performed reassurance patrols in the area throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Antoine Daniels Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime – strongly condemned the actions of those responsible for this incident.

Following a complaint of serious sexual assault by a serving police against two other serving officers, a criminal investigation was commenced, alongside employment matters of gross misconduct to which the officers were suspended.
A file was submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Office for charging consideration.
An assessment by the DPP decided upon examination of all the evidence presented that there was not a realistic chance of prosecution in this matter beyond all reasonable doubt.
The officers subject to the criminal allegation have subsequently been informed, however they remain suspended and the BPS disciplinary process will make assessment to their behavior, a process that, unlike the criminal threshold, is based on the balance of probability.
As Commissioner of Police I support all who make complaint of sexual assault, whether they be a police officer or member of the public of any ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.
We continue to look after the officer who made this complaint at this difficult time, with the provision of counselling and welfare support.
I understand the officer will now seek judicial review in regards to the DPPs decision which he is legally entitled to do.
In view of this action it would be inappropriate for the BPS to make any further comment until this process is completed.
