The Bermuda Police Service Gymkhana makes its return after more than a 20 year absence! This popular community event
will take place on Saturday 2nd October 2010 at Police Field in Prospect, Devonshire between 10am and 5:30pm.
A few minutes after 12:30pm on Wednesday, Police responded to a report of an incident that took place on Field View Lane in Pembroke. It appears that a member of the community came upon a man’s lifeless body in an area outside of a house on that said road. Police are going through the process of identifying the body and as such no further information will be given until the next of kin have been notified.

Desilva was in attendance as well as other members of the Bermuda Police Service family, the Bermuda Long Riders Motorcycle Club and members of the public. The event is held each year to show support for the families and friends of the four lives tragically lost.
Police can confirm the arrest of a 48 year old Hamilton parish man from the shoreline of the North Shore Road/Coney Island Road, Hamilton parish area on Saturday, September 4th 2010. Around 10:45am that day, several officers from different units attended the scene to assist in his capture, including the Marine Unit. The 48 year old Hamilton parish man was subsequently apprehended for outstanding warrants and attempting to evade arrest. A 43 year old Hamilton parish man was also arrested at the scene in connection with the incident. A court appearance for the 48 year old Hamilton parish man is anticipated in due course.
Around midnight on Saturday, Police responded to a report of gunshots in the Middle Terrace, Pembroke area. A 22 year old Pembroke man subsequently attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg. His injuries are not life threatening; as a result he was treated and released. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.
The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 75 year old Calvin Hansey Sr. of Pembroke. Mr.
Hansey was last seen at his residence around 7pm on Friday, 27th August 2010 by a family member. He is described as dark skinned, 5’9” tall of slim build and clean shaven.
A few minutes after 7pm Wednesday, police responded to a report of a marine incident at Green Bay Road in Hamilton Parish. It appears that members of the community saw a man in a non-responsive state in the waters off of Green Bay dock. The 40 year old Hamilton Parish man was subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at 8:30pm. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified. Foul play is not suspected.
A few minutes before 3pm today, a 29 year old Pembroke man checked himself into the hospital with a gun shot wound to his body. The 29 year old man’s injuries appear to be non-life threatening. Police were alerted and were told the shooting took place in the St. Monica's Mission area. It was later established that the shooting took place on Crane Lane in Devonshire.
A few minutes before 3pm today, a 29 year old Pembroke man checked himself into the hospital with a gun shot wound to his body. Police were alerted and were told the shooting took place in the St. Monica's Mission area. Police presently are in the process of establishing the shooting scene. The 29 year old man's injuries appear to be non-life threatening. There is a heavy police presence currently in the area as officers try to establish the location of the shooting. Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact police on 295-0011.
Police responded to a report of a confirmed firearm incident that took place at 3:45 this afternoon at the junction of Middle Road and Woodlawn Road in Sandys parish. It appears that a man traveling on a motorcycle in the aforementioned area was shot. The 19 year old man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries.
Presently the area around the shooting has been cordoned off and traffIc has been diverted to the Railway Trail. We are thanking the public in advance for their cooperation in this matter.
