Firearm & Ammunition Seized, Two Men Arrested

Armed police officers executed a search warrant at a Sound View Road, Sandys parish residence today, April 24th.

As a result, two male persons were taken into custody and a handgun as well as a quantity of ammunition was seized.

Inquiries into this matter are ongoing by the Serious Crime Unit. Working in partnership with members of the community, the Bermuda Police Service is focused on getting illegal firearms off the street.

Bermuda Police Service to Host 2013 ACCP Conference

The Bermuda Police Service is proud to host the 2013 Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP) Conference, which will be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess from Monday April 29th to Thursday May 2nd. This is the 28th annual conference of the ACCP and the theme is “Police and Public Partnerships: linking prevention, intervention and enforcement strategies to tackle gang and youth violence.”

The keynote speaker is Professor David Kennedy of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. Professor Kennedy is the author of the book “Don’t Shoot,” in which he describes the Boston project, often referred to as “Operation Ceasefire,” to combat gang-related violence.

Man Injured In Pembroke Shooting

Police received several reports of gunshots heard in the area of Curving Avenue and St. Augustine's Hill Pembroke today (Sunday) at 12:45pm.

Upon police arrival it was confirmed that a firearm incident had taken place and a 19 year old Pembroke man was conveyed to the hospital where he was treated and released for superficial gunshot wounds.

Advisory: Residential Burglaries

The Bermuda Police Service is presently experiencing upsurge in reported residential burglaries in Hamilton Parish, Warwick and Sandys Parishes.

We are advising the public to secure your property; lock ALL windows, doors, and secure air conditioning units. Please ensure all valuables are in a safe or safety deposit box as jewelry and electronics have been the main items stolen. Also, we are strongly suggesting that home owners take pictures of all valuables and record all  serial numbers of electronic goods, in the event they are stolen and recovered those goods can be identified.

Shooting in Sandys Parish: One Man Injured

Around 10pm on Tuesday, March 19th police officers responded to a report of gunshots in the Beacon Hill Road, Scott's Hill Road Sandys parish area where a 22 year old man was shot and injured.

The victim was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At this time his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Reported Serious Collision in Devonshire

Around 12:35am on Friday, March 15th police and first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle collision in the Parsons Lane, Devonshire area.

It appears that a motorcycle was being ridden along Parsons Lane when the rider, now confirmed to be a 31 year old Devonshire man, collided with a tree.

The motorcyclist was seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check the victim was in critical condition.

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 16 year old Kianna Bremar. The teenager is described as slim with a brown complexion, 5’9” tall, weighing around 150 pounds. She has straight black hair, usually worn in a ponytail or all out and was last seen on Friday, March 8th 2013.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 16 year old Kianna Bremar is encouraged to contact the Vulnerable Persons Unit on 247-1678 or the main police number on 295-0011.
