Tue, 2015-06-09

Around 12:10am on Tuesday, June 9th police received a report of a robbery.

It appears that around 11:50pm Monday, June 8th a taxi driver was flagged down by an unknown male on South Road in Southampton, near the junction with Horseshoe Road.

As the taxi stopped in the bus turn around area, the vehicle was apparently approached by three other males, two brandishing blunt objects and one brandishing a bladed article.

The taxi driver, a 44 year old Pembroke man, had a quantity of cash and his cell phone taken; however he was not injured.

The male that flagged down the taxi was described as light skinned, between 5’6” and 5’8” tall of stocky build and believed to be approximately 16-18 years old. He was said to be wearing grey sweat pants and a grey sweat top with a hood, while the other three males were believed to be wearing white T-shirts with other dark coloured clothing.

Police officers promptly attended the scene and searched the surrounding area, where a 22 year old man and a 13 year old male were located and arrested in connection with this incident.

Inquiries regarding this reported robbery continue and any witnesses or persons with relevant information should contact the Criminal Investigations Department on the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.
