Reported Serious Two Vehicle Collision in Southampton [Updated]

Around 5:35pm Thursday, November 10th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Scenic Heights Pass involving a bus and a van.

It appears that the bus and van were each being driven in opposite directions when the collision occurred.

The van driver, a 38 year old Paget man, was initially trapped in the vehicle before being extricated by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service EMTs.

He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of injuries to his hip and legs which were not believed to be life threatening.

At last check the Paget man was still receiving medical care at the hospital.

Three children aged 2, 4 and 7 years old who were passengers in the van also received treatment at the hospital for relatively minor injuries.

All three were later discharged. There were no other injuries reported.

Traffic was diverted away from the area while the scene was processed, with that section of Middle Road Southampton re-opening to normal traffic flow after the damaged vehicles had been removed, approximately three hours later.

Update: At last check this morning (Monday, November 14th) the 38 year old Paget man injured when the van he was driving collided with a bus around 5:35pm Thursday, November 10th on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Scenic Heights Pass was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital.
