Pink Handbag Taken From Visitors on Railway Trail in Sandys Parish

Detectives are currently investigating a reported robbery that occurred along the Railway Trail in Sandys parish between Somerset Bridge and Sound View Road Wednesday afternoon.

It appears that around 1:30pm Wednesday, June 10th a visiting couple was walking along a section of the Railway Trail, in the vicinity of the Heydon Trust property, when they were accosted by an unknown male apparently brandishing a hammer. The female visitor’s pink ‘leather looking’ handbag was taken by the perpetrator who escaped on foot, despite being pursued by the visitors. The couple was not injured.

The bag was said to contain a quantity of cash and a cell phone. The offender, believed to be aged 16 or 17, was described as a light complexioned black male wearing a white T-shirt and khaki pants – the bottom of which were below the knee.

This type of crime is highly unusual, particularly in the area it took place, and investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have seen the described culprit.

Gunshots Fired on St. Monica’s Road: No Reported Injuries

At 10:19pm Wednesday, June 10th police responded to a report of gunshots being heard in the area of St. Monica’s Road in Pembroke. Upon police arrival, it was forensically confirmed that a firearm was discharged in the area; however there were no reported injuries. Butterfield Bank Armed Robbery Suspect Released on Police Bail

The 39 year old St. George’s man arrested in connection with the armed robbery of the St. George’s Butterfield Bank branch Tuesday, June 9th has been released on police bail pending further inquiries. 81 Year Old Motorcyclist Remains in ICU

At last check 7am Thursday, June 11th, the 81 year old male motorcyclist injured in a collision with a truck that occurred around 1:50pm Monday, June 1st at the junction of Cavendish Road and Lane Hill in Pembroke remained at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.
