Around 1:20pm today, Monday August 29th, a 23 year old Pembroke man attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his hand.

His injury is not considered life threatening.

Details are limited at this time; however the incident apparently occurred in the Fentons Drive Pembroke area.

Inquiries are underway and any witnesses or persons with information regarding this matter should contact the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.

Update: Details emerging suggest the 23 year old Pembroke man suffered from an apparent  self-inflicted gunshot wound and was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle. Police recovered what appears to be a firearm and an investigation into the matter is now underway.
